BlackGenius Canada is, first and foremost, Afro-Canadian parents who decided to stand in solidarity to better support their children — and push them as far and as high as possible, whatever obstacles they may face.
Want to go further? Our complete vision document — who we are, our mission, our values, our 10-year horizon and our impact — laid out and ready to read or share.
Who we are, our mission, our five values, our 10-year vision, and our commitment to the wider community.
Download the vision document (PDF) →We believe that rigour is liberating, as long as it is taught with patience and embodied by role models our children recognize themselves in.
Personalized plans, weekly small-group sessions, preparation for national and international math, science, logic and programming competitions, coding workshops, world languages: every program is built to reveal potential, not standardize it.
Nuit des Défis. The Math Game. Summer Academy. Mentor Time. Each one, a moment of transmission.
These events exist to bring our vision to life: publicly celebrating academic progress, creating challenges scaled to a child's level, and weaving the bond between generations.
We don't claim to have all the answers. We learn from one another — our experiences, our resources, our contacts, our struggles. And when something is beyond our skills as parents, we go find the people who can help, together.
Eleven founding families in 2025. Fifty families targeted for 2027. A hundred and fifty and beyond by 2030. The more of us there are, the stronger this solidarity becomes for our children.
Math and logic competitions you can register for yourself, no school required — in Quebec, across Canada, and online internationally. Here are the next three deadlines:
Also: Purple Comet, Rubik's Cube, youth chess, sudoku — seven competitions in total, sorted by nearest date, with a downloadable calendar.

Excellence is documented. Every step forward is recorded, so that each child can one day hold their own file and see the road travelled.
Four signature events shape the academic year — a mix of intellectual challenges, celebrating progress, and passing knowledge between generations.
An evening of intellectual challenges in mixed teams: riddles, mental math, science challenges, general knowledge. The year-end gathering where every child shows what they've built.
Annual · membersTwo intensive weeks of math, science, languages and STEM projects for every child, from elementary to high school. Led by guest teachers.
Summer WorkshopsA training program modeled as a game, designed to make children love mathematics. Consistency and performance earn prizes and scholarships.
Ongoing program Prizes & scholarships at stakeA few moments captured during the last Nuit des Défis: children deep in thought, teams in discussion, parents cheering them on.
We spent a long time looking for a demanding environment that wouldn't make our children feel they had to choose between excellence and their identity. BlackGenius proves you don't have to choose.
This isn't tutoring. It's a community of parents who decide to take their children's potential seriously — and who stand together to make it happen.
BlackGenius Canada is developing a network of partnerships with academic institutions, engaged businesses, and funders committed to the education of young Afro-Canadians.
