Giving your time,
opening a door.

BlackGenius Canada runs on volunteers — parents, mentors, teachers, students, professionals — who choose to invest a bit of their time in the community's children.

Six ways to contribute

Where is your time worth the most?

Whether you can give 2 hours or 2 days a month, there's a place for you. Here are our main needs.

i. Mentorship

Mentor for a Day

Are you an Afro-Canadian professional (health, engineering, law, finance, research, entrepreneurship)? Host a young person for a day of immersion or a conversation.

Commitment: 1 day per term

ii. Academic

Scientific committee

Teachers, doctoral candidates or researchers: help us design and grade the Math Games tests, and structure our educational content.

Commitment: 4-8 h / month (intensive June–September)

iii. Facilitation

Session facilitation

University students or young professionals in STEM, languages or humanities: co-facilitate our weekly tutoring sessions and workshops.

Commitment: 2-4 h / week

iv. Creative

Photo, video, design

Know how to tell a story in images? Document our events and family portraits, and contribute to our visual identity.

Commitment: at events and ad hoc

v. On-site

Event logistics

Practical organization of the Nuit des Défis, the Merit Walk, Summer Academy: transportation, welcome, supplies, security.

Commitment: 1-2 events per year

vi. Expertise

Pro bono advice

Lawyers, accountants, communicators, HR: support our nonprofit on incorporation, compliance, branding, governance.

Commitment: as needed
